As far as I know it's at least partly based on facts, but there is also already a solution for that. The "adresss system" running out of space is called ipv4, however all new devices/software should be able to support a new system called ipv6. It's not really in use yet, but once it is, in theory it should provide enough adresses that eveny your toaster could get its own ip adress.
