Visit to Austin, Texas

We spent much of last week visiting our son there. First time for me. A few observations and factoids:

It's vibrant, progressive and green.

Despite a pervasive anti-corporate, anti-establishment culture it's one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S.

It's grown so fast that it's the largest city in the U.S. with only one interstate highway and no professional sports!

Lots of local charm.

Our son gave us the grand tour hoping we'd move there. The strategy seems to have worked on Mrs. RW. I'm not sure. Hate to uproot in late career. But I have to say, the place has a lot going for it. (Hmm, I wonder what hospitalist jobs are like down there).
